other news...
July 21st 2007 - my orchestra, the Helios Chamber Orchestra, gave its first concert in the church of St Jude-on-the-Hill, London. In an all Eastern/Central European programme, pianist Bartosz Barasiński joined the orchestra for a performance of Chopin's Piano Concerto in E minor. The concert also included Glinka's Kamarinskaya, Kodály's Summer Evening and Martinů's Sinfonietta 'La Jolla'.
A second concert took place on January 19th 2008, focussing on 20th century American music, featuring Copland's Quiet City, Ives' Unanswered Question, Barber's Violin Concerto and the European premiere of Ned Rorem's 2nd Symphony.
The orchestra then made a successful tour to Spain, giving 4 concerts in various parts of Andalucia, and now presents regular performances at St Cyprian's Church in Marylebone, London. Further information about more recent concerts and future plans can, sadly, no longer be found at www.helioschamberorchestra.org.uk! But see above or news of my new venture - a professional orchestra/ensemble called 'Chimera'.
